COVID-19 Response

During this unprecedented time, Bellevue Farms has been providing folks in need of access to fresh food through funding provided by the Delaware Community Foundation's Covid Response grants. In addition, generous community members continue to make contributions so we can provide fresh, local food to people in need and continue to support our local farming community. The economic impact of the pandemic is great, but we can help each other and find resiliency in utilizing our resources in our community.

Mobile Farm Stand

Bellevue Farms built a mobile Farm Stand in 2018 to better service the community with fresh, locally grown food. To date, we have reached over 3000 community members with fresh, affordable access to locally grown food. This means healthier eating habits for a healthier community. The food we stock is both grown in Bellevue Farms and from other local farms within a 50-mile radius. We also aim to source from farmers who use responsible growing methods and aim to use little or no pesticides. All of this is in an effort to provide consumer choice while supporting local small farmers to sustain our local food system for generations to come.

Bellevue Farmers Market

Bellevue Farmers Market is a partnership between New Castle County Farmers Markets, Bellevue Farm, and Bellevue Community Center. The 2021 market opens May 7 and will run Fridays 4-7PM through November (end date TBA).
Bellevue Farmers Market first opened in 2015 and has grown into a seasonal attraction visited by thousands of community members. The market provides access to locally grown and produced foods and goods. The market benefits our local economy and gives life to our community. The pandemic has made it clear that investment in our communities is vital. Please join us in celebrating our local farms and small businesses at the Bellevue Farmers Market.

We are seeking vendors for the 2021 season. Contact New Castle County Farmers Markets for more information Michael.Begatto@NewCastleDe.Gov

CSA 2020 Findings and Future

In 2020, Bellevue Farms offered a sliding scale CSA to build equity in our local food system making more accessible for lower income participants. The was a success. The 30 participating households assessed their financial situation and chose a level of membership they could afford. The higher income and giving levels subsidized lower income levels by providing funds that supported scholarships so every participant, regardless of wealth received an equal weekly share of local harvest. The feedback was extremely positive! We aim to strengthen our local food system to heal some of the problems of inequity and food insecurity. For 2021, we are partnering with Urban Acres Produce LLC to continue and expand our reach. Urban Acres Produce is also a nonprofit mission driven program aimed at increasing access to fresh food. Together we can build a better food system that us socially, economically, and environmentally healthier. More information coming soon. Please email to receive updates, ask questions, or get involved.
