come grow with us

Welcome to the all-new Bellevue Community Center.

For over 41 years, the Edgemoor / Bellevue Community Center has been providing services for the entire community, from infants to area senior citizens. Annually we serve over 5000 community members through our broad range of educational, recreational, athletic, cultural and family support services and programming.

We have always been unique in that we serve an economically and racially diverse population which mirrors the neighborhoods along the Philadelphia Pike corridor. BCC truly is a “center of community” and a “hub for activity” as we regularly host civic and community groups and meetings, manage Bellevue Farms, a 20,000 square foot community garden and farmer’s market, facilitate art programs and sports programs, and work with many like-minded community organizations as a practicing partner.

My goal as the Executive Director is to fulfill the mission of BCC by focusing on 5 key core components: the 5 Star Bellevue Learning Center, the Bellevue Prevention and Outreach Center, the Bellevue Art Lab, Bellevue Farms, and our outstanding BCC Summer Camp. To learn more, please click on the programs link at the top of the page and check out what we’re all excited about!

What I am truly proud of, however, is our people…our Bellevue family…our strong BCC team of teachers, administrators and support staff…our committed community partners…and especially, our dedicated parents and awesome kids! In our main office is a visible reminder of our family strength…it’s our family tree where each leaf is a handprint of every member of our family, including Sarge, BCC’s K-9 mascot! If you’re not on the tree, stop by and let’s get your handprint up on the tree.

I think it’s safe to say that people are noticing all the good things going on at Bellevue and are responding in an extremely positive way. I am proud to announce that we were awarded $2.5 million in grants and loans in 2019! We are so grateful for the support of our many partners: SPF-PFS Grant ($1.2million) to combat the drug, alcohol and opioid crisis in our community and around the State; Crystal Trust Foundation ($230,000) to fix our leaking roofs and help rebuild our crumbling infrastructure; the State of Delaware ($200,000) to rebuild our main entrance; the Longwood Foundation ($200,000) to renovate our outdated gymnasium; the Delaware Energy Commission ($495,000 Loan) to replace our antiquated boiler and replace all of our lights with energy efficient fixtures; Highmark of Delaware ($125,000) for more efforts against the opioid crisis; the Delaware Community Foundation ($20,000) for an all-new security camera system; BlackRock Financial ($15,000) to develop a coding and robotics program; the New Castle County ($2500) for an all-new Bee project to help pollinate our garden; and the SPF-Art is Life Grant ($16,000) to help high school aged youth use art as a healthy alternative activity.

So, check out our new website, follow us on Facebook and Instagram and help spread the good news about BCC! Better yet, get involved…check out our volunteer page and help us out; come to our events; take an art class; buy some fresh, local food from our market; or come play Friday night Bingo!

BCC is the place to be and the best is yet to come!

As I tell the kids, “Keep being awesome!” As I tell our staff, “Thanks for all you do!”
